Band-aids for Open Government

Some news on localities experimenting with open government initiatives which is a good thing for communication from the voter, even in the aggregate, to an elected official. These initiatives supposedly will help keep the elected in touch with the needs and wants of his constituents, and there seems to have been progress with minor initiatives.

I suspect that these will all be on the order of legislative band-aids with minor wants and tweaks. The real initiatives in government only result from big money, and on-line petitions are strikingly weak on campaign contributions.
